Delta Kappa Gamma
April 8, 2014
Columbiana Public Library
Gayle welcomed us on a lovely spring evening. Jane gave the blessing. It was decided to have our business meeting first. The minutes were distributed, read, and approved. Nancy Dicken made the motion to accept them, and Sandy Forbes seconded it. Charmaine read a thank you from Meals on Wheels for the placemats we made. Also, she gave us her exciting and very good health news!
Election of officers was held next. Our new officers are the following: President - Ann Hall
First Vice-President - Linda Lipp
Second Vice-President - Jackie Mercer Recording Secretary - Pam Todd Corresponding Secretary - Amy Johnson
Nominations Committee: Amy Johnson
Jane Ramsey
Nancy Tompkins
Treasurer's Report:
Checking - $4642.00
Savings - $1338.34
Sharon Walker reported that our dues will remain at $70. The deadline will be Oct. 31, 2014. This time you will have the option of making three payments toward the cost.
New Business: Next month please bring a paper product as a donation for the Christina House.
Announcements: DKG now has honorary members. This person is someone who is not an educator by profession but who has still made a difference in the field of education.
Sue Weber-Nape will have our scrapbook to browse at our next meeting. Mary Lou Hays now has the red roses on our web site. She will be posting photos from the convention.
Gayle announced our very special red rose, Charmaine Lamoncha, for her excellent health report!
Our next meeting will be May 14, 2014. This will be our 75th Anniversary celebration! A group picture will be taken. Also, it will be Founders' Day and installation of officers.
Maralyn Porter made a motion to adjourn the meeting, and Connie Beadnell seconded it. Everyone enjoyed our dessert bar, courtesy of some of our sisters.
Linda Lipp introduced our speaker, Rev. Louis Raymond, who is, also, known as "The Music Box Man". He played each music box for us. Then we had a chance to view them.
Respectfully submitted,
Amy Johnson, Recording Secretary
